Braderie de Lille 2027: Dates, English Guide & Travel Tips

Planning your stay in Lille

Hotels and accommodation during the Braderie

Even without the Braderie, Lille is a great destination for a day trip or a short break: the city is 1 hour from Paris and 1 hour 30 minutes from London by train. A former capital of Flanders, it keeps a Flemish flavour in both its food and its architecture.

More than 2.5 million people flock to Lille that weekend: book your accommodation as early as possible, ideally with free cancellation. From luxury hotels to apartments, including neighbouring towns well served by the metro, all our ideas are on the page where to stay during the Braderie de Lille. For a gentler budget, see also our selection of accommodation in Roubaix and Tourcoing, linked to central Lille by metro.

What to do and see during the Braderie

Vieux-Lille is quite simply beautiful: stroll its cobbled streets and take time to look at the architecture. Start at the Grand’Place, the main square, then head to the Vieille Bourse, the Opéra and the rue de la Monnaie. Lille is a young university city: its designer boutiques, craftspeople and home décor shops hold lovely surprises for anyone who wants to do a little shopping between stalls.

Eating during the Braderie

Flemish culture plays a big part in Lille’s cooking. There are brasseries, fine-dining restaurants and tea rooms, but don’t leave Lille without trying an estaminet (a traditional Flemish tavern serving regional dishes). During the Braderie, the tradition is moules-frites, with a contest for the biggest pile of shells outside the restaurants. Welsh (a Welsh rarebit-style dish with beer and cheese), carbonade flamande (Flemish beef and beer stew) and potjevleesch (a cold terrine of meats): also see our guide to ch’ti food at the Braderie.

Bars and nightlife

The Braderie de Lille doesn’t stop at nightfall: the night from Saturday to Sunday is actually when the atmosphere is at its most electric. Bars, terraces, street concerts and entertainment follow one another until the early hours, especially in Vieux-Lille, rue Solférino and in Wazemmes. Read our guide to the Braderie de Lille at night.

Getting there without a car

The Braderie perimeter can only be entered on foot, through controlled access points: cars are not allowed. Public transport is stepped up and the metro runs all night from Saturday to Sunday. If you come by car, park at an Ilévia park-and-ride (P+R): in 2026, those at Porte des Postes, Saint-Philibert, Porte d’Arras, CHU-Eurasanté, 4 Cantons and Les Prés were free with a transport ticket validated the same day. Full details are on our pages about parking and getting around during the Braderie. Coming from Paris, Belgium or London? Train, car, plane: everything is on our page about getting to Lille for the Braderie.
