What is the Lille funfair (foire aux manèges)?

The Lille foire aux manèges is a must for families and thrill-seekers in the Lille area. Set up every spring on the Champ de Mars, at the foot of the Citadelle Vauban, this funfair brings together dozens of rides for all ages: big wheels, dodgems, roller coasters, haunted houses, children’s rides and sweet stalls.

With more than 100 attractions spread over a large open-air site, the Lille funfair is one of the biggest funfairs in the north of France. It traditionally runs from April to May, offering around six weeks of entertainment before the summer.

The funfair’s star attractions

The funfair offers a wide range of attractions to suit everyone:

  • Thrill rides: Booster, Top Spin, inverted coasters, free-fall towers and big roller coasters for the boldest.
  • Family attractions: a panoramic big wheel with stunning views over Lille, dodgems, hook-a-duck and carousels.
  • For little ones: horse rides, mini-trains, trampolines and bouncy castles in a dedicated area.
  • Treat stalls: candy floss, churros, toffee apples, waffles and crêpes: the funfair classics!

Practical tips for your visit

To make the most of the Lille funfair 2027, here are a few recommendations:

  • Go on a weekday: it is quieter on Mondays and Tuesdays, ideal for families with young children.
  • Bring cash: although more and more stalls accept bank cards, many showmen still work in cash.
  • Come by metro: Rihour and République stations are a few minutes’ walk away. Avoid the car at weekends, as the car parks fill up fast.
  • Dress comfortably: the funfair is outdoors, so bring a jacket for cool spring evenings.

The funfair and the Braderie de Lille

Don’t confuse the foire aux manèges (spring) with the Braderie de Lille (first weekend of September). While the funfair is all about rides and attractions, the Braderie is the biggest flea market in Europe, with 53 km of stalls, 5,425 exhibitors (2026 figures) and its famous moules-frites.

The Braderie de Lille 2027 will take place on Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2027. See our practical information and our full FAQ to prepare your visit.
